Monroe Community College hosts an Annual Walk for Water to benefit Water for South Sudan. This organization, founded by MCC attendee Salva Dut, provides access to clean water and hygiene education to the people of South Sudan. WFSS has now drilled 304 wells in South Sudan, the world's newest country. We receive no government funding, and are supported entirely by donations from all 50 states and 44 other countries.

MCC's support, and the walk, have been coordinated through the college's Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project (HGHRP). MCC has supported WFSS since 2008, raising over $50,000 to help bring access to clean water to South Sudan.

The top three fundraisers or fundraising groups at the Walk for Water will be eligible to receive one of three grand prizes:

1st Prize - Reception with Salva Dut

2nd Prize - Meet Salva Dut

3rd Prize - Photo with Salva Dut

Prizes will be awarded directly following the walk.
